The National Wild Turkey Federation

The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of North America’s hunting heritage. Founded in 1973, the organization’s mission is to conserve wildlife habitat, promote responsible hunting, and support outdoor traditions for future generations.

Headquartered in Edgefield, South Carolina, NWTF works with state and federal wildlife agencies, conservation groups, and local communities to restore and manage habitats across the United States and parts of Canada and Mexico. One of its major achievements has been helping restore wild turkey populations, which had declined dramatically in the early 20th century but have since rebounded due in part to coordinated conservation efforts. Through its “Healthy Habitats. Healthy Harvests.” initiative, NWTF focuses on habitat conservation, hunting heritage programs, and outreach efforts that educate youth and adults about wildlife stewardship. The organization also hosts fundraising events, supports land conservation projects, and advocates for policies that protect wildlife resources.

The Houston Chapter was honored with five NWTF Texas State Awards at the Houston Chapter Banquet

Today, NWTF has hundreds of thousands of members and volunteers who contribute to conservation projects nationwide, making it one of the leading conservation organizations in North America.
