NWTF Chapters in Texas received national recognition for their hard work at the 44th Annual NWTF Convention and Sports Show, February 13-17, 2019, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN. Awards were given to the following Chapters for their achievements:

Texan by Nature, supported by NWTF, selected the Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture (OPJV) as a Conservation Wrangler and is working with OPJV to foster the Grassland Restoration Incentive Program (GRIP) to act as a model of landowner engagement that brings grassland conservation to the forefront of thought. Texan by Nature is assisting with marketing and outreach, exploring new funding avenues and business partnership opportunities, and increasing communication capacity to wider audiences.

The Texas Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) has provided nearly $165,000 to TPWD for habitat management on TPWD Wildlife Management Areas (WMA), as well as $7,000 for fire equipment, and $5,000 for development of an R3 strategic plan. These donated funds have been matched with over $500,000 in TPWD grants (Pittman-Robertson (P-R) funding).

The group was presented The Shortleaf Pine Conservation Award during the Shortleaf Pine Conference in Van Buren, Missouri, October 1. The group was recognized for their “distinguished contributions to the restoration and management of shortleaf pine forests, woodlands and ecosystems.”

By NWTF chapters and volunteers working with state wildlife agencies and conservation partners across the country, the NWTF exceeded its Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative 10-year goal by recruiting and reactivating nearly 1,527,000 hunters three years ahead of schedule.

Brenda Valentine, the First lady of Hunting, will be the special guest at the Montgomery County National Wild Turkey Federation Chapter Third Annual Banquet on August 15, 2019 in the Lone Star Convention Center’s Bluebonnet Room in Conroe, Texas.

Howdy folks! I just wanted to take a moment to thank the leadership, membership, and countless volunteers of numerous organizations which we’ve had the pleasure of working with and supporting over the last decade.
